Inspired by the "hooded jacket" style favored by motorbike riders in Vietnam, the Gáo Dừa—named for the protective form of a coconut shell—reimagines sun protection as a functional design accessory. We noticed how often people layer hoods and scarves to block the sun while riding, or to add a protective layer between their head and a helmet, so we combined these elements into one cohesive piece. While the khaki version offers grounded stability, this silk organza edition provides a lightweight, airy alternative that feels like a veil of light.
Following our zero-waste studio philosophy, this accessory is handcrafted in our Saigon studio using the remaining yardage of our signature silk organza. The structure of the hat is achieved through precise paneling that maintains its "shell" form without the need for heavy internal frames. The one-piece scarf panels are finished with our signature hand-finished blind hem stitch, ensuring that this functional piece remains as refined as any garment in the collection.
The Gáo Dừa is a versatile tool for the everyday person in constant movement. The sheer nature of the silk organza allows for a beautiful play of light and shadow when layered. The scarf tie allows for multiple styling options.
