KAAREM Presents: Viễn tưởng đường phố

by Chuong Pham Posted on October 19, '17

Viễn tưởng đường phố, a connection between fashion and science fiction stories is our fantasy. If reading a sci-fi story, Solaris for example, transports us to another planet full of bizarre unknown creatures. Then in quite the same way, wearing new clothes inspires our fantasy: we feel that we become new people. This Kaarem collection gives me a futuristic sense due to its forms and textures. It also gives the sense of open creativity. The fabrics tailored into minimalistic forms become like a cinema screen on which we project our wildest imaginations. We feel freed. We move forward. We elevate towards the world of the wonders.

Trương Minh Quý, a Vietnamese filmmaker, lives and works here and there in the vibrancy of memories and present moments. His narratives and images, lying between document and fiction, personal and impersonal, draw on the landscape of his hometown, childhood memories, and the historical context of Vietnam. He has exhibited his films at Clermont-Ferrand Film Festival, Oberhausen Film Festival, Les Rencontres Internationales Paris/Berlin and VideoBrasil.

Chúng ta cảm thấy tự do.

A Visit to Mollis

by Chuong Pham Posted on December 07, '16

A visit to a family-owned and operated mill in Tân Châu to view the handwoven silks that are organically dyed black with Diospyros mollis fruit. This dyeing process is a traditional technique unique to An Giang province in the Mekong Delta. It requires craft and care, hand-dyeing the silk twice a day for 45 consecutive days.  The handwoven silk, both raw and satin, are also naturally produced in Bảo Lộc, Việt Nam. Inspired by this process and the textiles, we designed the Mollis Black Collection.
