This limited edition notebook is our special collaboration with artist Tammy Nguyen and Passenger Pigeon Press. Inspired by KAAREM’s use of materials, and attention to craft and structure, Tammy created a book composed of one signature and two pocket matrixes. The transparent colored and middle folios are created by folding in asymmetrical and symmetrical ways that provide spaces for your safekeeps, thoughts, and what-nots. This notebook is also assembled with a singular string tied at two spots. This allows the pages to stay together while also creating a hook for a writing utensil. It comes with either a yellow or green vellum sleeve insert, and a Vietnamese school pen.
"At Passenger Pigeon Press, we love poetry. We love the poetry of KAAREM’s garments, and we try to find poetic relationships across fields and time." - Tammy Nguyen
On the back of this paper is a poem that is a little bit about folds and a little bit about dreams by Harlem Renaissance poet Georgia Douglass Johnson. Ms. Johnson worked for most of her life in Washington DC, but is considered part of the artistic movement that stemmed out of the Harlem neighborhood in New York City. Passenger Pigeon Press operates out of Harlem, but they like to think of our ideas as having no fixed location.
